The so-called bearing locking means that the bearing generates a large amount of heat during operation, and cannot radiate heat in a short time, which causes the bearing temperature to rise sharply, and then locks the bearing. This phenomenon is very common in equipment maintenance and production service sites. The specific reasons for bearing heating are as follows:

First, improper assembly

1. When assembling the bearing, the fit of the bearing outer ring and the bearing seat hole or the bearing inner ring and the shaft is incorrect.

During the assembly process, the inner holes are not sanded, the dimensions are measured, and then the new bearings are assembled for assembly. After the test, the temperature rose too high. When the detection amount is removed, it is found that the bearing receiving hole has been deformed, so that the outer ring portion of the bearing is squeezed, resulting in a small radial clearance of the bearing, and uneven rolling of the rolling element and increased wear of the rolling bearing. The inner ring of the bearing and the shaft are too large, the inner ring of the bearing rotates with the rolling element and the shaft, and the friction causes the bearing to generate heat and vibration.

2. Improper control of bearing heating temperature during assembly.

If the temperature of the bearing heater is too high during the heating process, it will cause tempering, and the hardness and accuracy will be reduced, which will cause the bearing temperature to increase, which will increase the wear and damage of the bearing.

3. Improper adjustment of bearing clearance during assembly.

In actual work, many installations can sometimes only be manually debugged, and the gap is too large or too small to meet production requirements. If the axial clearance is too small, it may cause the bearing to heat up, accelerate pitting, and even cause the rolling elements to become stuck or stuck. If the axial clearance is too large, the impact force of the moving pair will increase and the rigidity will decrease, which will lead to operation. Abnormalities can even cause severe vibration or cage damage.

Second, the oil seal problem

The oil seal is an oil seal element used to seal the rotating shaft in mechanical equipment, and the cavity is basically fixed, so the oil seal is also called a rotating shaft lip seal. ring. For oil seals with auxiliary lip, the auxiliary lip plays a dustproof role to prevent impurities from invading, thereby extending the life of the oil seal. However, the auxiliary lip is usually poorly lubricated and has high friction, which causes the oil seal to dry and damage. Be sure to put fat on your lips.

Third, the gap problem

During assembly, if the size of the gasket is not carefully checked and assembly tests are performed, the temperature will rise rapidly after a period of time. The size of the outer ring of the bearing is determined by the end cover and the bearing block stop. Reduce the size of the spacer, adjust the size of the inner ring with a round nut, and then compress the bearing. The axial clearance of the bearing will become smaller and heat will be generated during operation.

Fourth, the lubrication problem

There should not be too much grease in the bearings. If there is too much fat, the friction torque will increase and the bearing temperature will increase. If the amount of fat is too small, reliable lubrication will not be obtained and dry friction will occur. In general, a suitable amount of grease is 1/3 to 1/2 of the total void volume in the bearing. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly apply an appropriate amount of grease according to the requirements of use.
